Meet Alan Dyson, a research scientist experimenting with the longevity effects of a newly discovered bristlecone pine tree gene. He thinks he's being watched and followed. He's right. When his secret formula is stolen, and all notes are wiped from his computer, his friend--the firm's computer programmer--secretly tracks the thief to a P.O. Box in Zion, Iowa. Under suspicion, and with his project canceled due to a bizarre death, Alan visits Zion to discover that he's not the only stranger in town, and that someone has been using the residents as guinea pigs in a chilling medical experiment. In a dangerous gambit to expose whoever is hiding the truth, he solicits help from the police, and is arrested instead. Now, only a young woman hiding there under the Witness Protection Program can help him escape. But can he convince her to join forces to uncover this conspiracy of silence involving the potential for immortality? Because whoever is behind it all has made an astonishing discovery of Biblical proportions, and is murdering everyone to cover their tracks.

Not since Tess Gerritsen's "Gravity" have I been so impressed with a book! I've read (and written) a lot of science fiction over the years and rarely has anyone written edgy science fiction with such a great story and characterization. Clearly Mr Lowe either has a good science background or did a LOT of research in gene therapy and DNA constructs; and then to have the ability to tell such an intriguing story as to blurr the lines of science and fiction ever so slightly as to be believable. A little Robin Cook, Michael Crieghton and Tess Gerritison--who could ask for more! I can't wait for his next book!Product details

The Methuselah Gene edition by Jonathan Lowe Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
I narrated the Audiobook edition of "Methuselah Gene". Narration involves a unique immersion into the text; I had read the book three times in the end. And I enjoyed it every single time! In each chapter, the characters grew more solid, more human, even as the plot grew seemingly out of control. With just enough reality, just enough convoluted mess, just enough sarcasm, it was my kind of relatable-thriller. Lowe does a magnificent job setting the stage too, every scene was clear in my mind. A reality-fantasy, intelligently crafted, thoroughly enjoyable. Definitely a page-turner, though easier on the fingers in ebook and audiobook editions. -TL
