I was thinking these would be made with chunky yarns but they use two strands together of worsted. Projects should just fly off my hook!!
I was looking for less common designs--but this has very good, easy instructions for more "basic" designs. Great for newbies or occasional crocheters.
I am just learning to crochet and read pattern directions. The patterns are simple to follow. I can't wait to see the finished blanket.
This is a very little book--I wish the product descriptions could be a little clearer. The patterns are sound good, but are not quite as easy as the hype leads one to think, and it's hard to read. It was a bit disappointing for a neophyte with failing vision, and hopes for making something useful. I guess I'll just wing it.
QUICK & EASY Q-HOOK AFGHANS is one of the small (5-3/8" x 8-3/8") Leisure Arts booklets sold in crafts stores (e.g., Jo-Ann, Michael's). It includes 7 afghan patterns written for a very large crochet hook (see Lion Brand 15mm Crochet Hook, Size Q-19). Four patterns are designed by Mary Ann Sipes Comforting, Romance, Daydream, Refreshing. Three patterns are designed by Melissa Leapman Breezy, Zippy, Simplicity.
The Fire displays the 7 afghan photos in full color; other s (e.g., Paperwhite, Keyboard) show the photos in black and white. For the Fire, Paperwhite, and Keyboard s, there is an active link right below each pattern title (e.g., Daydream) that gives the page where the pattern photo appears (e.g., "Shown on Front Cover"). Touching or clicking on the link takes you directly to the photo.
The leaflet (and versions) also include basic crocheting technique information needed to make the afghans. The patterns call for worsted weight yarn, held with two strands together, to make quick work of these pretty afghan designs.
I love this book! It is the perfect size for carrying with my projects! The price was great, as these books in the crafts stores can be very pricy! I also bought the " Q" hook and have started an afghan alreadY. iI wouid recommend purchasing this book if you are interested in trying to make an afghan with the "Q" Hook! The pictures are colorful and large so you can see what the project looks like! The Covers are of HIgh Quality heavy cardboard so that the pages will not fall out from use!
My aging fingers prefer large hooks. This book shows some fast, lovely patterns to make with a larger hook. Weekend projects or something for those with a little arthritis and too much gumption to quit.
